Successful Doctoral Defense by Sebastian Nielebock
On the 6th of October, Sebastian Nielebock successfully defended his doctoral thesis "API Miuses - A Journey Along Their Causes and Prevention to Automated Techniques for Detection and Repair"
In his work, he researched a specific type of software defects in the application of third-party libraries via Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) - so-called API Misuses. He provides an overview of the state-of-knowledge on the causes of API misuses together with state-of-the-art prevention mechanisms and invented his own techniques to automatically detect and repair them.
The thesis as well as the replication package of his work is publicly available.
After the successful defense in front of the doctoral committee with the three reviewers of his thesis, Frank Ortmeier, Thomas Thüm, and Alexander Serebrenik, we visited, in a traditional ceremony, the monument of the university's eponym, Otto von Guericke.
